York Properties, one of Raleigh, North Carolina’s truly iconic companies spanning multiple generations, recently turned to Carimus to recreate its online experience for customers, partners, and prospects.
In its fourth generation of York family leadership, the Oak City developer is known for its contributions to the Raleigh skyline and hardscape, with its emblematic projects including NC State’s Bell Tower, the Sir Walter Hotel, and the Southeast’s first shopping center, Cameron Village.
In addition to a refresh of its online brand presence, York came to Carimus looking for a high-performance platform that would operate a site capable of showcasing multiple business units. The team at York wanted a lighter feel to the site, one that would reflect the modern vibrancy of the company, as well as achieve site visitor expectations for load speed and user experience.
The Carimus team delivered a design and user experience that is at once regal, noble, classic, and nostalgic, reflecting the company’s iconic status in its hometown. Designer Hannah Kinney updated the color palette to include a navy that complements the company’s standard red and also selected typography that offers a modern approach to a vintage brand.
Developers like York have lots of partners. From a performance standpoint, the new site features a new vendor portal with architecture that’s built for speed. York partners, previously limited to a traditional contact us page, now access a portal where they can invoice and take service requests. Members of York-managed homeowners associations can now pay dues and make a maintenance request with ease. At every turn, the Carimus development team held a 360-degree view of the spectrum of users who needed a better-performing site from York.

The new YorkProperties.com also features a more fleshed-out expression of the company’s value proposition to its employees. The site features a careers page that showcases the company’s values, the benefits York employees enjoy, and a fully-functioning jobs board.
